An original retro-jazz-vocalist, Julian Yeo blends old school soul with a hot new sound. Perhaps the title of the CD sums it up, there is certain quality in his voice that sounds like old recordings you hear from a gramophone (OLD); at times, his voice even evokes a certain nostalgia that we hear in singers in the past like Fred Astaire, Dick Haymes and Rudy Vallee (BORROWED). Yet there is something undeniably hip about his renditions that is refreshingly unique (NEW).
